How Often Should Your Rings Be Checked?

Here is a before and after pic of re-tipping 4 claws on centre stone. You can see the difference and amount of metal that holds the stone.

It is recommended that you have your rings checked every six to twelve months for signs of loose or damaged gemstones, worn prongs or other damage. Most people don't realize that a weak or broken prong is a problem until a gemstone falls out of their ring. To make sure nothing like that happens to you, you need to inspect your prongs closely and get them repaired.

Think of it like going to the dentist for a thorough check-up and professional cleaning, except it is a check-up and professional cleaning for your jewellery!

A good jeweller will inspect your ring and make sure all the stones are secure in their settings. Here at Sutton Smithworks, we inspect your rings, check your prongs closely under the scope. We can show you what we see on a TV screen.

There is no charge for Jewellery Inspection. Feel free to stop in anytime!
